Winter Dreams

Winter is slowly creeping up on us and I can’t wait looking forward to that first real snowfall when the world quiets down all at once and appreciates nature.  For most people it last about 2.5 seconds till they start bitching about the roads and all that but it is a nice 2.5 seconds.  I’m looking forward to some time in the mountains with my friends tramping around in snowshoes and sliding down mountains on my butt.  I know I know what about the spiritual side of things well if your in the woods walking across a little wooden bridge over a frozen river and little snowflakes falling all around you it dose not get much more closer to God for me.  If your not into that kind of thing which not everyone is there is much else to be done despite all the craziness surrounding the holidays winter is a time to slow down.  I often think of it as when the world meditates.  If your not a snow person you probably got some time on your hands I invite you to meditate along with the earth.  Really slow down and turn into see what answers you find probably a good idea even if you are a snow person.  Taken the time to find peace and grow spiritually makes life worth living for me.  The time spent while it may seem wasteful sometimes especially with the hustle and bustle of modern life is defiantly worth some attention. 

 

What will you focus on this winter? any big plans and good ideas let me know?

Success

Success, many people succeed in different areas of their live some excel at jobs, some at family, sports, spiritually and many other ways(spelling and punctuation is not something I succeed at sorry).  We all succeed at something everyone has strong points and weak points but the thing to remember most is NOBODY SUCCEEDS IN A VACCUUM.  Everyone somewhere along the way has been helped by someone in which way does not matter but be assured wherever you are whatever situation you are currently in somebody, probably lots of people have helped you.

If you think this does not apply to you, you my friend owe many people a thank you.  Sometimes when people are so driven to succeed in something they don’t stop to notice who is helping them along the way.  I’m sure I have been guilty of this on one, two probably a thousand occasions and I’m sure at one time or another I will be again but these days its important for me to tell people thank you and let them know I appreciate what they have done for me.  Sometimes they don’t even know it so its good to let them know.  Being thankful for the help you receive should have the outcome of you helping others to complete the circle as well.  Yes everyone has the ability to help someone in some way.

I have learned many things from many people my sister Trisha showed me not to care what anyone thinks and to do what’s in your heart.  My brother and father showed me that hard work pays off.  My sister Kristy showed me what being kind to someone is like.  My twin sister showed me what it’s like to have a first best friend.  My mother showed me to love yourself even if nobody else does.  My step mother showed me to be responsible.  My girlfriend showed me that two people can be themselves in a relationship and love each other for it.  My best friend Ted showed me that two friends can never be inappropriate when they are having fun.  This list could go on and on forever and I’m sure I would still leave people out so If I did thank you and if you want more description of what you mean in my life call me cause a lot of super important people did not make the list cause I don’t want to bore everyone more than I already have.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me in my life especially you.

Tech with a spiritual purpose

So tonight I don’t feel like writing much so I’m using voice dictation on my phone. We have all kinds of of tools at our fingertips these days and they can be used for good or bad most of the time for neither. I for 1 love gadgets and my cell phone is at the top of the list but I could get caught up clicking away typing on this checking on that and wasting a lot of time. So I decided a while back to use some of the technology I have to keep me on a spiritual path . I usually have some sort of special background set up on my phone to remind me of this fact . I also set up a Twitter account short time ago and use that for Spiritual means and it has work tomorrow  I just really only follow people with a positive message or something good to say many of them spiritual people I admire. It’s a never ending stream a positive messages and spiritual tips. I also have my Kindle account synced on my phone with many spiritual books on it . I also upload a bunch of spiritual music.

how are you using the tools you have to bring the spiritual realm into your life?

Grinch

It will shock some of you to know I’m a Grinch, yes me a Grinch.  I can do without all the pressure of the Christmas season the demands on time, forcing family together who normally wouldn’t mix and the pressure of buying gifts with money most people don’t have.  I can do without it I’m cheery all year long pretty much and the people who read this who know me know that’s the case.  Which is pretty much everyone reading this cause hey I’m not all that popular.  I dig the love and kindness that is the spirit of this holiday just don’t see as much of it as I like.  I also dig some of the religious aspects but I could do without some of it especially the traffic.

This year is going to be different, I’m gonna give it a full shot.   Started my Christmas shopping today which is usually done Christmas eve.  Trying to give gifts that are thoughtful which I do all year long but usually for no specific reason.  I do not need to be told to be nice to the people I love it comes naturally if I see something I think you would dig and have the money I pick it up.  Giving myself a little more time lets me put more feeling into it and let go of some of the pressure I usually put on myself.

Second I’m going to do a little bit of decorating got some horrible lights and a snowman they are going up.  Might hook it up to the clapper for extra flare.

Third I don’t know just decided this today and going to try in see it through.

The whole reason behind this little experiment is to make the holiday season a little brighter for those I love.  Some people close to me put a lot in to this holiday season and I would love to see them smile more for their efforts.

What’s your take on the holidays?  are you in or are you out?

PS- I say Christmas cause that’s what my family celebrates please don’t get your panties in a bunch.  I will celebrate yule, kwanza, Hanukah, Advent, Saint Nicholas’ Day, Bodhi Day, Saint Lucy’s Day, Winter Solstice, Soyal, Yalda, Mōdraniht, Saturnali, Pancha Ganapati, Dies Natalis Solis Invictis and any other holiday you which to throw my way.

Potential of today

Today has the potential to be a great day for just about everyone what we do with that potential is up to us.  Will you fill it with love and compassion will you brighten your day or someone else’s?  Much of the mood of the day is set by how we start off the morning.  Did you wake up on a positive note or just pick up the worrying about problems that only subside when you sleep?  Starting off on a positive note can change the whole feel of our day starting with a prayer or an inspirational poem maybe some happy music can change your whole outlook for the day and keep us focused on what’s important.  Fact is most of the problems we worry about that sap the energy out of life take us away from the present moment which is the only place we should be living in regret or longing for the past, fear of the future will take away this moment every time.  We are surrounded by a lot of negativity these days focusing a lot of energy on what’s wrong with the world, what’s wrong with our lives and what’s wrong with the way we look or feel.  You are exactly where and who you are suppose to be right now stop worrying about it.  Use this day as a gift doing whatever you may do but know it will be better with a positive mindset no matter how it goes.

 

This is the only December 1st 2012 that will ever be lived go out and live it!  You are amazing person and have the ability to bring a smile to many faces including your own.  You are alive today for a reason many people would be happy to still be here living today but we never know how many more of these days we have so go live it.  Let the love you feel for those around you shine through let the small stuff go.  Witness the beauty of life all around its everywhere!!!!!!! and if all else fails remember that today tons of puppies and kittens will be born, millions of strangers will help each other, kids will take their firsts steps, complements will be made, people will fall in love, celebrations will be had and people will dance the funky chicken.

 

The day is before you with all its potential have a great one unless you have other plans.

Congratulations and Best Wishes

Earlier today I got to perform a wedding ceremony for two of my best friends Ted and Valerie.  It was a short and sweet ceremony performed before family in Ted and Valerie’s new home.  Though it was my first time performing a wedding ceremony and I was a little nervous there is nothing I wouldn’t do for these two.  Smiles were all around as these two tied the knot and a good time was had by all.  Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple may your love grow more and more everyday.

Religion-None-All

People often ask me what religion I practice. I often answer this one of two ways either none or all. People are often co fused by this. I personally see no benefit in excluding practices from any religion as long as they work for you and bring you benefit then what does it matter where they come from. Hence the “all” response, my practice is not a set of rules set by one religion come to think of it no rules come to mind. Nor is it set on one path with such a focus to say I practice that religion. My practice which is my own brand of religion for me and I do answer questions about it but don’t think anyone needs to do what I do. The best spiritual teachers I’ve come across have always taught me to look within for answers and guided me to get there. I can be found meditating like a Buddhist, praying like a Catholic, chanting like a Yogi and looking for sign in nature like a Pagan all in the spend of moments. All our religions are very similar when we take away our prejudices. Why not use what works for you? The question is not is this religion or that religion wrong the question is why can’t they all be right? What will you practice today?

Giving Thanks Year Round

Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday here in the US we all come together with friends and family and hopeful are thankful for all we have, but why keep it to just one day?  To me Thanksgiving is a important reminder a beacon that should set off a light that hey look at all this love in my life.  The most important thing to me is family on this day and just about everyone the rest of the year.  The family I was born with and the other ones I choose to be part of.  With all the money and things in the world they are empty unless I have people to share it with but on the other hand I don’t need much material things if I have good relationships and loving people in my life.  To me giving thanks for the people around me is an action.  I need to treat these people with love and respect.  Show them what they mean to me and let them know.  I might even put my selfish desires to the side and sacrifice a little to give them what they need and not what I think they need.  To be thankful and live at least a small portion of everyday helping people is to truly be alive.
